Happy 2016!
Aloha Kakou, e KS Class of 1973~
As we continue the journey in the 60 & sensationally sassy decade of our lives, we, Elliot, Kehau and Stacia, send our Aloha to each of you. To volunteer as the liaison between the KS Class of ’73 and the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Relations is an honor and we are humbled to serve in this capacity. We acknowledge and mahalo those class reps who served before us. We look forward to living this next season of our lives together with you!

Happy 100th Anniversary
King Kamehameha Day Celebration!
Before our beloved servant leader classmate, Stephen Reelitz, was promoted to heaven, Stephen served on the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission (KKCC) and was looking forward to the 100th Anniversary of King Kamehameha Day. The KKCC asked if KS ‘73 would honor Steve by participating in the 2016 100th Anniversary King Kamehameha Day Parade. Your Class Reps have discussed the participation options, the needs, the reality, researched and contacted KS Alumni Relations in response to KKCC’s request.
Our hope is that we, the KS Class of ‘73, will come together as we did in 2002 to do the Alumni Luau. The Luau was a success because 100+ of us, who were physically there and not physically there, did our different kuleana before, during and after the Luau. In 2002 guests did not want to leave the Luau and we needed to turn off the lights so they would leave. It was a rewarding, satisfying, and fulfilling experience, and… it continues to be a Kakou Thing!
The immediate need is a Chairperson, OR Co-Chairpersons, OR a Team, to step-up to lead KS ‘73’s participation in the 2016 Kamehameha Day Parade. Please contact Elliot, Kehau, or Stacia by 6:00 pm on Wednesday April 27, 2016 if you are being called. Your class reps are available to talk story to answer questions, clarify, etc. Contact Kehau at 808.282.1478, Stacia at 808.388.8464 and Elliot via FEW (Facebook, Email, Website) because he is all over the world in this season.
Below are participation options a.k.a. brainstorming:
Donation to Parade in honor of Steve.
Decorated golf carts (Liz Pa Nakea’s idea. Mahalo...)
Decorated Trolley with KS '73 Classmates & ‘Ohana (Thinking Generations)
Decorated Trolley with KS classes from the 70s (to share the cost of the trolley)
Decorated Trolley, Golf Carts, Convertible cars or any combination of these vehicles depending on what becomes available to KS’73 ( Steve’s ‘ohana along with Classmates and their ’Ohana would be identified; Still thinking Generations)
Walking in the Parade with other KS Alumni
Combination of Options 5 & 6

Relay for Life of the Kamehameha Ohana
Also, it is not too early to begin planning for the 2016 Relay for Life of the Kamehameha Ohana, which will take place on Saturday, August 20, at the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus. Because of business travel commitments, Elliot will not be able to lead our team this year, and we are looking for another classmate who might be feeling inspired to step us like Jan did last year. The Team Captains for the event are already meeting, so we hope that one of you will step forward soon. Mahalo!
